A Connected Greenway
The Goal
ULI Columbus and MORPC sought to develop ideas for integrated open space networks in the Columbus area that would allow for the best use of natural assets to benefit the Columbus economy, growth, access to recreation, education, and health, while preserving natural resources and the health of the environment. Five design and planning firms were brought in to create visions for different areas.
MKSK focused on the Olentangy River and the communities surrounding it. I was brought into the project towards the final project stages and assisted in putting together final deliverables for identity and presentation.
The Mark
One of my contributions was creating a visual mark specifically for MKSK's part of the project. This mark had to be based on the existing mark for the overall Rapid 5 project, found here.
MKSK's vision for the Olentangy River is built off of three key points: (1) Asking 5 Questions, (2) Establishing 5 Pillars, and (3) Defining 5 Actions. My final deliverable for the mark takes the idea of these three key points and integrates them with the original Rapid 5 mark.
Presentation Boards
I was put in charge of creating the MKSK presentation boards to go on display during he Rapid 5 presentation event. For this, our goal was to put together a set of boards that displayed the key points in MKSK's vision process, and displayed the 12 points along the Olentangy River that MKSK focused on. The boards had to be able to operate as two separate pieces, and one large piece to create flexibility in display setup.
All of the diagrams and renderings on the board were created by MKSK architects and planners. My job was to take their visuals and format them so they could be understood by the Columbus community and fellow firms.
For the presentation event, we used the single-board layout.
Additional Contributions:
In addition to the above contributions, I also assisted in creating icons, map landmarks, infographics, and formatting for the MKSK Rapid 5 publication. Links to the publications, as well as full Rapid 5 project documentation, can be found below.
